L'Aia is a restored independent stone house tucked into a Chianti hillside in a private position with vineyard views, and feels secluded while not isolated. There are other homes on the property but L'Aia has its own private drive and is set apart from the other buildings. Vistas extend over the captivating landscape.
L'Aia is simply decorated in Tuscan style, comfortable, and reasonably priced for a house of its size. The delightful stone house occupies two levels, and has terraces on both the front and rear that are connected by a flight of stone steps on the side of the house. A sizable upper terrace hosts the private swimming pool (15x30 feet), with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The lower terrace is dotted with flower pots, and has space for al fresco dining along with a wood-burning pizza oven and barbecue grill. There is ample space in the gardens, and a private parking area.
L'Aia's living space is open and roomy. Floors are covered in terracotta tiles and wood beams line the ceilings. A brick archway separates the living room from the dining space, in traditional fashion. A large stone-rimmed fireplace forms the focal point of the living room, which also houses a satellite TV and DVD player, as well as a stereo with CD player. There is WIFI Internet access. Meals are enjoyed on a crafted wood dining table and benches. The eat-in kitchen has an oven, gas range, microwave and refrigerator/freezer. A washing machine is in a utility room off the lower terrace, and there is a baby crib.
There is one cheerful twin bedroom on the ground floor, with a bathroom with a shower next to it. Upstairs are three more bedrooms, all simply but tastefully decorated. One twin bedroom is snuggled below a slanting, mansard wood-beamed roof with a skylight. The two double bedrooms have panoramic French doors opening to the upper terrace. A bathroom with a bathtub is also on the second floor.
L'Aia offers a tranquil setting just minutes to the most delightful towns in central Tuscany. There is an abundance of vineyards nearby. Chianti is the heart of Tuscany's wine country, as well as the geographic heart of the region.
