La Cantina is a wonderfully restored farmhouse in the hills a short drive from the medieval town of Todi. The American owners restored the property using international artisans, and the interiors depict impeccable quality while embracing the charm and the warmth of the Italian lifestyle. The furnishings throughout are tasteful, inviting, and comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and include vineyards, 200 olive trees and a rose garden. The swimming pool is in a very panoramic position with terrific views of Todi and the surrounding Umbrian countryside.

La Cantina can be rented either as a property for 6 people, with just the main farmhouse, or as a property for 10 people with the addition of the Annex. The Annex is never rented separately from the main house.

The Farmhouse develops on two floors, with numerous entrances to the garden and several terraces. On the first floor, there are two living rooms, each of which has direct access to an outside terrace. Each of the living rooms has an 18th century fireplace, and both have views to Todi. One living room has a large satellite TV with VCR, and a CD player, along with a nice collection of CDs for guest use. Wood beam ceilings, colorful fabrics and the use of local craft items as decorative pieces provide these two rooms with a particularly warm feeling. There is a guest bathroom off the living room area.

The gourmet kitchen is very well equipped. The kitchen has a professional stove, a large side-by-side Subzero refrigerator/freezer, a wood burning grill, and a working fireplace. From the kitchen there is direct access to one of the living rooms, the dining room, and an outside terrace. The spacious dining room seats ten around an antique table with wooden chairs that have curved backs and upholstered seats. Off the dining there is a charming covered loggia.

All the queen-size bedrooms are on the second floor, and each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. The windows in all the bedrooms have screens, and the bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The Annex, completed in 2007, is located a few steps from the main farmhouse, and has air conditioning throughout. There are two bedrooms: one is either a double or a twin, and the other is a twin bedroom with very large single beds. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, and the rooms are very nicely furnished.

The lower level of the Annex is an open plan living/dining room. The living area has a fireplace, a large screen satellite TV, and comfortable seating. There is a dining table in one part of the room facing the outside. A large wooden cabinet holds the kitchenette, with a microwave and other basic kitchen equipment; it is useful for preparing light meals. There is also a fitness room on this level with a treadmill and other equipment, and a bathroom.

The farmhouse is equipped with a washing machine, clothes dryer, fans in bedrooms, dishwasher, top-level kitchen appliances, disposal, wood-burning grill in the kitchen, microwave, telephone, TV (satellite), stereo, tape deck and CD player, computer for guest use, WI-FI, hairdryers, screens, and independent heating. The Annex has air conditioning in all rooms. A cook is available to prepare typical Umbrian meals for an additional charge.

For those wishing to explore beyond the borders of Umbria, Rome is about 90 minutes away and Florence is about two hours away.
