Il Poeta is a light-filled apartment occupying the entire first floor of one of the oldest villas in Portovenere, a typical Ligurian fishing village close to the Cinque Terre. The villa in which Il Poeta is located is just a short walk from the center of Portovenere. The sea is less than 600 feet away from the property, which makes it a perfect choice for anyone who wants a rental near the beach in a seaside village.

Access to the property is through a private gate that leads to a wonderful garden area with fruit trees (lemon, grape and tangerine) that offer shade, and a well-maintained lawn with lounging chairs. A steep staircase with about 30 steps leads from the street level through the garden and up to the apartment.

Il Poeta has been restored in a very contemporary style, and the extensive use of the color white on the walls and in the furnishings contributes to its airy feel. The entire apartment has air conditioning and there is wireless Internet. . Two large windows permit light to flow in and offer wonderful views to the Gulf of La Spezia - - also known as the Gulf of the Poets. A flat screen cable TV is in the living room. There are two bedrooms with excellent sea views off the living/dining room. One is a small bedroom with a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom. The other bedroom is large, and can hold three people. The beds can be arranged either as a queen- size bedroom with an additional single bed, or a bedroom with three single beds.

The third bedroom is small and has a queen-size bed. It is off the kitchen to the back of the apartment, so this bedroom does not have sea views like the others. This bedroom is adjacent to a second bathroom, which has a shower.

The kitchen is located beyond the living/dining area. It has state of the art stainless steel appliances, including an oversize stainless steel oven and a refrigerator/freezer with an icemaker. The kitchen counter tops are done in white Corian. The kitchen has a door that leads out to a wrap-around terrace that has a table for dining "al fresco" with views of the sea. The terrace has a barbecue, and off the terrace is a utility room with a washing machine. The terrace also has an outdoor shower, a convenience for those returning from the beach.

The apartment is equipped with a washing machine, flat screen cable TV, state- of- the- art kitchen appliances including a refrigerator/freezer with icemaker, espresso machine, Wi-Fi Internet, central air-conditioning (included in the price), and heating.

Il Poeta is an ideal base from which to explore the Ligurian coast. In season, there is ferry service to the five towns of the Cinque Terre, and across the Gulf of Poets to Lerici. There is also a walking path from Portovenere to the Cinque Terre National Park. From Portovenere there is regular bus service to La Spezia, a stop on the main rail line that runs north south along the Tyrrhenian coast. If arranged in advance, reserved parking is available for an extra charge.
